Sometimes I think it’s worth thinking about how blessed us
peons are in this world. We all have those fleeting moments where we turn green
with envy when we hear someone else got that promotion. Someone less talented.
Someone less handsome got that girl. Someone less worthy received that
windfall. Stop that envy. Stop and be thankful that you are not part of that
world. Because it is a wholly separate world that you will never be able to
join. Those celebrities, debutantes, billionaires and other assorted filth have
all lost something you still have. They have all sacrifice something that you
would regret sacrificing to become part of that world. We little peons may be
talented or intelligent or even charismatic, good-looking individuals – but we
will never be morally compromised.
Think about it. You will never be like HB or his ilk. True,
you will never receive millions of dollars for literally just showing up to
some think tank committee. But you will also not be compromised. You will never
lose sleep over the guilt of what you did on some bender in some foreign
country and the bodies that had to quietly be removed in your wake. You will
never be wracked with the thought that someday your sins may catch up to you
and destroy your life, your family’s life, and the lives of those in your
social circle. You will never look in the mirror and see a ghost of a man, a
demon-possessed consciousness that only wishes to forget and buries itself
deeper in a maelstrom of selfish desires and lusts.
Those people you and I occasionally envy, they are not
people, and we would do well to remember this. They have sold their souls long
ago and now have nothing to live for while they shamble about this earth, mere
specters of greatness, reflecting nothing through their moth-ridden souls. Be
blessed with what you have. Know that your talents are for the Lord, your
family and your church. For what is greatness in this life, if it costs you
your soul? Stay morally strong and keep the faith in Christ.
